CPP50121 - DIPLOMA OF SURVEYING

INTRODUCTION

The Surveyors Academy was developed in 2022 in response to industry feedback and a desire to deliver quality training courses to industry in a way that supported organisations and their employees. DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of skilled surveying technicians who hold advanced surveying skills and perform duties in the field involving the performance of precise measurements and setting out of structures using specialised surveying equipment. In the office they map onsite measurements and draft plans.

Surveying skills are applied in a range of industry contexts, including town planning, civil construction, mining, engineering, agriculture and defence.  

Cadastral surveying must be undertaken under the supervision of a registered surveyor. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

This qualification is suitable for an Australian traineeship pathway.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Entry points to undertake the CPP50121 Diploma of Surveying are:

  • CPP40216 Certificate IV in Surveying

    or

  • CPP41721 Certificate IV in Surveying and Spatial Information Services (Surveying)

    or

  • demonstrated relevant vocational experience, skills and knowledge commensurate with the scope of work covered in the CPP41721 Certificate IV in Surveying and Spatial Information Services (Surveying).

To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in 16 units of competency consisting of:

  • 8 core units

  • 8 elective units.

    Entry Requirements:

    • This course requires the successful completion of Certificate IV In Surveying and Spatial Information Services (Surveying), or

    • Significant relevant vocational work experience mapped to the Certificate IV In Surveying and Spatial Information Services (Surveying), Be working full time in industry in a surveying related role, have a supervising surveyor and be supported by your employer.

  • This Nationally recognised course reflects the role of skilled surveying technicians.

    During this course you, will gain practical experience and develop skills that will give you a considerable advantage as a professional surveyor.

    You will receive:

    • Exposure to realistic ‘in-field‘ surveying work experience.

    • Competence performing technical mathematics and excel calculations.

    • Experience, using cutting-edge surveying tools and tech like CAD, GIS, and total station theodolites and digital levels.

  • Students will need access to a computer (with video and audio capability), Microsoft Office or equivalent, internet access, a scientific calculator, and a mobile device for practical evidence collection.

    This course requires the student to complete approximately 10-hours of self directed learning over and above the one day online training as well as their practical field work.
